Safety, Equality, and Fiscal Responsibility
Safety
Safety is paramount. As an essential worker, I know how challenging it is to work in a public-facing position right now. As a parent of two young children, I know how important it is to get our kids back in school. I look forward to collaborating with teachers, families, administrators, and public health officials to navigate the way forward.
Equality
I have spent my life advocating and organizing for marginalized communities, including my own. I am committed to ensuring that all kinds of families are represented in our curriculum, that our leadership is representative of our community, and our hiring and retention practices reflect our commitment to intersectional social justice.
Fiscal Responsibility
I am committed to ensuring the future of Goleta Union School District. Covid-19 means that we need to update our facilities, decrease class sizes, hire more teachers, and acquire more equipment for our students. We will face these new needs with less money. I look forward to working creatively and collaboratively to achieve safe, equitable, and financially sustainable learning and working environments for our students, teachers, and staff.
